秋天来了，天气渐渐凉爽起来，地里的庄稼已开始收割了。一只小蚂蚱在玉米秸上跳来跳去，可自在了。忽然，蚂蚱发现他的邻居—那只勤劳的小老鼠正在满头大汗地搬玉米、大豆。蚂蚱笑着说：“老鼠先生，你太能干了，不懂享受，快别干了，趁天气凉爽，和我一起玩捉迷藏吧！”老鼠说：“不行啊，我还要干活呢！我要趁天气好，赶紧收藏食物，要不冬天就挨饿了。你也别玩了，赶紧准备冬天的食物吧！”蚂蚱哼了一声：“我才不那么傻呢，冬天还早呢。”说完，又一蹦一跳地跑远了。
